As you probably know, this past weekend was another amazing weekend at Community. 16 people got baptized and 14 of them decided right on the spot when they felt God’s call on their life. With permission I’m sharing one of the emails I received this week after I sent them a note to congratulate them on their baptism.

Hi Pastor Scott

Thank you so much for baptizing me. I was actually baptized once before when I was 12. However, at 32 I felt that so much has happened in my life that it was time to renew my faith.

For years my husband and I were trying to find a church we could both be filled in. At the time we lived in Torrance. When we moved back to Hemet to help take care of my mom the church I grew up in just wasn’t the same. In fact now it is totally gone. Then after my mom passed, my son was 3 weeks old. With napping schedules and being so hurt by my old church I didn’t want to go to church at all.

My sister in law bought me a new bible. It’s a women’s study bible NIV. For the first time in my whole life I was able to read the bible and understand it myself (and I’m pretty smart…at least I think so)! I then made it my mission to read my whole bible in a year. It was amazing and something I needed to do. Read and understand for myself. But my husband and I still knew we wanted to find a church.

We’d been invited to __________ church and even went several times. My husbands Aunt and Uncle go there. Nothing against them we just weren’t feeling it as our home church. Then one day we were in Rubios and a lady came up to us and invited us to Community Christian for Easter and gave us a flier.

My husband is a marketing guy, so he’s VERY picky on fliers and other marketing type stuff. Most stuff doesn’t meet his qualifications but your flyer did. We decided to look up Community Christian. We watched some of the online sermons and decided to check it out in person.

We really liked it for ourselves but what sold us was the 2 year old Sunday school. We came for the first time on Palm Sunday and for an entire week our son danced around with his Palm leaf he made constantly talking of “church.”

This is also the first time I’m seeing my husbands faith grow. I know he has believed for a long time but there was something missing.

I just know it was the Holy Spirt moving Sunday morning because I did not come to church with the slightest idea I was going to be baptized. In fact I was congratulating myself on how nicely I had done my hair and makeup that morning. But when the Holy Spirit says to move I’ve learned the hard way you move. I practically ran to the back of the church before I lost my nerve.

I know this was a long reply. Thank you again. I love the way God is moving in my family’s life. -Diana

I can’t help but wonder if the “lady in Rubio’s” was my mom. That’s how she rolls! Also, a huge thank you to JoAnne and the 2 year old teachers! Job well done!!

Lives are changing in this place.

Most of all, thank you God for all you did in Diana’s life leading her to this point and thank you for all You’re doing in all of our lives right now…today!
