This month, as we go through our series, PRAY BIG OR GO HOME, I’ll be giving you some discussion questions for you and your family or maybe a group of friends.
In week one, we talked about inviting God to come and inspect our heart based on what we find in Psalm 139:
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24 NIV)
So, here’s a couple of follow up questions.
1. Why might it be uncomfortable to pray a prayer like this?
2. What is reassuring about praying a prayer like this?
3. When it comes to confession, what is most helpful to you right now from this description of confession from Celebrate Recovery?
CONFESS your shortcomings, resentments and sins.
OBEY God’s directions.
NO more guilt.
FACE the truth
EASE the pain
STOP the blame
START accepting God’s forgiveness
4. Confess something to your family or friends that you’d like to be working on, then pray for each other.
