Unless you’re brand new at Community, you know our mission is stated: “Stepping In, Building Up, Living Out.”

The “Building Up” part of our mission is helping people grow and build up their relationship with Jesus. Yes, we need the Word of God to do this, but we also NEED each other! Yes, I said, NEED!!

I can’t remember where I first heard it, but we’ve said it around here for years now, “Becoming more like Jesus happens best in the context of relationship.” That’s just a quick way to say what I found in this book by Henry Cloud and John Townsend:

“God the Creator designed us to live life not only with him, but also with each other. True life lies in relationship: “It is not good that the man should be alone” (Genesis 2: 18 KJV). Research has illustrated what the Bible teaches about the necessity of connectedness. People who are deeply attached to others tend to live longer, better, and more healthily.” (Henry Cloud & John Townsend, “Making Small Groups Work”)

Did you catch that last sentence? Don’t miss it. Read it again.

This fall, we will again be emphasizing the value of our LifeGroups as a part of God’s plan to help you BUILD UP your relationship with Him. I just thought I’d put this little reminder in your head/heart now. We’ll talk again soon!
