I recently started reading a book on prayer that I’m seriously digging! It’s called, The Circle Maker: Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears, by Mark Batterson.
In the third chapter he’s talking about the unique military strategy of the Israelites as they faced their first challenge in the promised land. The first city they took was called Jericho. (Read Joshua 5-6.)
I loved this line from The Circle Maker…
“The Israelites didn’t conquer Jericho because of a brilliant military strategy or brute force. They learned how to let the Lord fight their battles for them.”
It wasn’t that they took NO action. It’s just that they did what God told them to do, which was not enough, then God took it from there.
We all have things we face, and will most likely face again in 2015, that are more than just a little over our heads. As you wade into the battle, remember it doesn’t all rest on your shoulders. Do what you know you’re supposed to do. You don’t have to knock over every wall…that’s where God does some of His best work.
If you don’t know that one thing you’re supposed to do…PRAY! Instead of a last resort, let’s make it our first response to the next challenge.
