I remember the first time I realized the pastors and leaders that were inspiring me the most were younger than me. I’m not sure when I got so old, but it happened. The truth is, it doesn’t really matter how old we are, we can still learn…and we can learn from all kinds of people.

“It is both comforting and humbling to know that we are all in a process of spiritual growth and that no one fully arrives at the destination of perfection in this life.” (Putman, Jim; Harrington, Bobby; Coleman, Robert: DiscipleShift: Five Steps That Help Your Church to Make Disciples Who Make Disciples)

This truth echoes throughout our LifeGroups. In my last few LifeGroups we’ve intentionally gotten a number of people from all different age brackets, and from all stages in their spiritual journey. The mixture is one where we all can learn from each other.

I love the sage, wise advice from the more “experienced” person just as much as I love the wide-eyed enthusiasm of the younger ones. This mixture keeps me growing, learning and more importantly, it keeps me on my toes! ha.

As we approach another LifeGroup season that will be launching in September, look for people some people you can hang with and enjoy being around…but make sure they’re not all EXACTLY like you. Mix it up and let the growth curve take a new turn!
