We’ve said for a long time now at Community, “Becoming like Jesus happens best in the context of relationships.” So, while reading this week I came across this:

“I believe that most Christians have divorced the teachings of Jesus from the methods of Jesus, and yet they expect the results of Jesus. I believe his methods are just as divine as his teachings. He showed us that the fundamental methodology in making disciples is relationships grounded in truth and love. Jesus is the greatest disciple maker in history, and his way works. Discipleship is the emphasis. Relationships are the method. Jesus invited people into relationships with himself; he loved them and in the process showed them how to follow God. His primary method was life-on-life.” (Putman, Jim; Harrington, Bobby; Coleman, Robert: DiscipleShift: Five Steps That Help Your Church to Make Disciples Who Make Disciples)

This is why LifeGroups are a big deal around here. While LifeGroups aren’t a magic potion, they do help create the opportunity for these life-giving relationships to happen.

Now, when sign ups start again around the end of August, jump right on in!
