God wants to work in our lives to make us more like Jesus. While everything about the change God is bringing about in our lives will be better for us, we often resist it. Even knowing it’s good for us doesn’t automatically mean we will totally embrace it. Change is always difficult.

Last week, while reading from the What On Earth Am I Here For? devotional book, I came across this from Rick Warren:

Growth is often painful and scary. There is no growth without change; there is no change without fear or loss; and there is no loss without pain. Every change involves a loss of some kind: You must let go of old ways in order to experience the new. We fear these losses, even if our old ways were self-defeating, because, like a worn out pair of shoes, they were at least comfortable and familiar.

Change is tough, even though destructive and dysfunctional, our previous patterns of interaction and doing life are familiar and even “comfortable”.

But, hey, it’s time to let God do that next thing in you. Let the past go and step into something much, much better!

Enjoying the journey. How about you?
