The book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom. One of my favorites, and maybe the favorite of many of you is found in the third chapter:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)
Trusting in God is, in fact, the most wise thing we can do. However, like verse five says, we sometimes prefer to lean on our own understanding.
What do we do when God says “GO LEFT”, but…
- All our friends are going right?
- I’ve always gone right, even though it didn’t work out, it’s all I know?
Trusting Him goes way beyond my own experience, or the experience of my friends. Trusting God means I’m able to tap into the One who is most wise, most experienced, and on top of all that…most LOVING.
Here’s another take on these powerful verses from The Message:
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 MSG)
