Strangely, this is not a statement of frustration or defeat. It’s an amazing anthem of victory when it comes to the love of God.

You can try, but you’ll never be able to make Him love you or accept you based on any of your efforts. He already loves you.

In fact, His love is based on who He is…not on who you are. Good thing too. God IS love, and as our Father, that’s exactly what He does when it comes to each one of us.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1a NIV)

Here’s more proof that God’s love isn’t waiting on you to do anything to make Him love you:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV)

So, the next time you serve or come to a worship service or encourage someone, don’t think of it as a way to make God love you more. Just do all that you do in a way that expresses your deep gratitude for His love which is already, every day coming to your rescue.
