Are you watchful and thankful?

As you look ahead at the month of November, there’s no question you have a big holiday coming up. Thanksgiving is now just a few weeks away, but let’s not wait until then to be truly grateful.

I love this little verse in Colossians 4:2. It reminds me of the attitudes I need to take with me as I pray. “Being watchful and thankful,” helps me both look ahead at what God is about to do as well as look back at what He has already done.

For example, we prayed and prepared for our Trunk or Treat event. We can be grateful for God’s provision and God’s blessing on that night. It was amazing. But now we can also be watchful, looking ahead at the ways God will use that event and the connections we made with families.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” (Colossians 4:2 NIV)
