Are your eggs in the right basket?

Are your eggs in the right basket?

You’re probably familiar with the phrase, “don’t put all your eggs in the same basket.” Well, that’s good advice in most cases. However, there is one situation where our only hope is to put all our eggs in one basket.

We tend to hedge our bets when it comes to eternity by working hard on our spiritual resume. Work hard, be good, excel at religion, make sure we keep the rules and on and on.

Paul drives the main point home yet again. Here’s the main point. Our ONLY hope of salvation is through Jesus. So, put all your eggs in His basket. Our ONLY hope is in Him…and everything else doesn’t count.

“I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault.

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.” (Philippians 3:5-7 NLT)
