Can you even believe this?

Can you even believe this?

This past Saturday, while still in Phnom Penh, we visited S-21. It was a high school until it was turned into a torture, interrogation, execution camp in the war in the late 1970’s. It breaks my heart every time I walk through these rooms and see the pictures of all the people who were tortured and who died here.

The amazing story though is of the surviving family members, like Christopher LaPel who leads Hope for Cambodia, who has offered God’s grace and forgiveness and love to those who were a part of the army that killed many of his own family.

Even the one man in charge of this horrible place became a Christian because of Christopher’s ministry.

Years ago, I got to meet that man while he was in prison. He was a man completely transformed by the grace of Jesus.

The stories are too many to share in a little blog like this, but know that the following verses continue to echo in my heart as I spend time here.

“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:27-28 NIV)
