I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m one of the blessed ones. Father’s Day has always been a great day in our family…mostly due to my great dad!

Becoming a father over 22 years ago made me look at this special holiday in a different way. I wasn’t just giving props to my dad, I began receiving them from my girls. Sadly, it’s not this way for everyone though.

Over the years I’ve talked to people who did not have a great dad to infuse life, encouragement and value into their lives. Recently I discussed this with a man who has become a friend of mine. I truly believe, even now in his 40’s, he’s still figuring out all the issues going on in his life as a result of NOT having a father that was involved in his life.

Now, here’s what I’m thinking: Who has God placed in your life who needs to see and experience what a father, a mentor, a friend can do for them?

Maybe a child, a teenager or even a co-worker comes to mind. How can you demonstrate to them how truly valuable they are? How can you express the Father’s love in a practical way for them this week?
