Did you know this?
Hemet used to be known for it’s money! Seriously, when I moved here in 1987 I was told that Florida Ave was the second wealthiest street in America next to Wall Street. There were so many banks and so many retired people living off their investments in those banks.
Well, things have changed. Many of those banks have gone away. When people in the region think of our Valley, they do NOT think of wealth.
Now listen to me…in-spite of this now being a lower income area, I continue seeing generosity from our church family! Generosity continues to show up in faithful tithing and in extra offerings.
I’m proud of this church and what God is able to do through you. In fact, you remind me of some churches we read about in the Bible. Can we keep this going? I think so!
“Now, friends, I want to report on the surprising and generous ways in which God is working in the churches in Macedonia province. Fierce troubles came down on the people of those churches, pushing them to the very limit. The trial exposed their true colors: They were incredibly happy, though desperately poor. The pressure triggered something totally unexpected: an outpouring of pure and generous gifts. I was there and saw it for myself. They gave offerings of whatever they could—far more than they could afford!—pleading for the privilege of helping out in the relief of poor Christians.” (2 Corinthians 8:1-4 MSG)
