Do you need a change?
Different translations of the Bible really help me keep familiar passages in a fresh light. Each year I choose a translation I will use to read through the Bible. I’m reading this year out of the New Living Translation (NLT).
I will still look at different translations when I want to understand something or when I hit a familiar place.
One of my favorites from The Message translation is this one from Matthew 11. Read it a couple of times and let the power of Jesus’ invitation really sink in.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30 MSG)
