Do you forget? You should!

Do you forget? You should!

Monday, Memorial Day, we talked about the importance of remembering. Today I want to suggest there are times we need to forget. Ready?

There are things in our past, things we can’t go back and change. Things we have perhaps learned from, but, if we’re honest, they can hold us back. We can get stuck thinking “this is who I really am.” No, you’re not. You’re not your past!

Paul reminds the church in Philippi to look forward, and even forget the past. What lies ahead is our relationship with Jesus, our future with Him, our becoming more like Him.

So, drop the baggage off and get moving forward!

“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ” (Philippians 3:14-15 ESV)
