Do you have someone like this?

Do you have someone like this?

In the book of Philippians, Paul talks about the importance of Timothy as a friend and a co-worker in the mission of the Gospel. Then he talks about the value of Epaphroditus. These two men were critical to Paul’s mission work.

Recently a friend, that will always be special to me, passed away. His name was Dale Wilcox. When I first took over the Lead Pastor role at Community, he was a key leader in our church and a huge support to me personally. Our friendship was a life-giving friendship. Dale, while quite a bit older than me, was a trusted friend and one that came at just the right time.

I don’t know how I would have done what we did in those early days without him. Now, hearing of his passing, I’m glad he is with the Lord…and glad God sent him my way nearly 35 years ago.

You might think about who those special people are in your life and thank them. I got to do that with Dale several times. But also, think about BEING that kind of friend to others. Who can you support, encourage, love, help? Who can you help spread the Gospel with where others will be affected for eternity!?!?

“I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 2:20-21 NLT)
