Do you need these?

Do you need these?

We’re three days into the New Year. How are you doing? Are you reading your Bible every day? Or…do we need to start over already! Ha.

Here’s a few things that have helped me stick to it over the years. Maybe they’ll help you too:

1-Create a routine. The most effective thing for me is to do this first thing. If I have to get up a bit earlier, that’s not a big deal to me. I get up early in order to make sure this happens. If you’re not able to “function” in the morning, try setting an appointment on your calendar at a time of day you can be consistent.

2-Have a plan. Whether you’re using a reading plan like I showed you Monday or not, have a plan. Are you reading a chapter a day through the New Testament? Great. Are you reading different books of the Bible, and then reading through them again before you move on? Great. Just have a plan.

3-Get a “Gym buddy”. Ok, we’re not talking about going to the gym, but we’re talking about accountability. Find a friend who wants to do this every day also. Text each other every day when you’ve finished reading. Share one “take-a-way” from your reading.

4-Enjoy your time with Jesus. Seriously. This isn’t a CHORE to check off your list. This is spending time with the most amazing friend ever. Enjoy it. Look forward to it. Ask Him to guide you and teach you and you open the pages of HIS Word.

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 NIV)
