How’s your appetite?
We probably don’t hear enough about this, especially in a culture that elevates our personal wants and desires above all else, but we have a problem!
The problem is our stomach or appetite (depending on the translation of Paul’s words). The problem, seriously, is that we are led by our urges and not by what is right, true, noble or simply Christ-like.
We also don’t hear much about fasting, but there is real value in telling our body NO from time to time. If you want to try a fast, try doing any of these things for 24-hours (or more):
Fast from food
Fast from TV
Fast from Social Media
Fast from……you figure it out.
Is there an area of your life where your urges and appetite are wrongfully leading the way? Tell them NO.
“For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.” (Philippians 3:18-19 NLT)
