Every day with Jesus is not about someday, it’s about now. Check out this powerful poem by Helen Mallicoat:
I was regretting the past
And fearing the future . . .
Suddenly my Lord was speaking:
“MY NAME IS I AM.” He paused.
I waited. He continued.
“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE PAST,
WITH ITS MISTAKES AND REGRETS,
IT IS HARD. I AM NOT THERE.
MY NAME IS NOT I WAS.
“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE FUTURE,
WITH ALL ITS PROBLEMS AND FEARS,
IT IS HARD. I AM NOT THERE.
MY NAME IS NOT I WILL BE.
“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THIS MOMENT,
IT IS NOT HARD.
I AM HERE.
MY NAME IS I AM.”
Now, put that poem and this verse together.
“For he says,
‘In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.’
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2 NIV)
Let TODAY be an amazing day with Jesus! After all:
“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 NLT)
Prayer thought:
If you are willing and if you are able, get on your knees or even lower if possible. With your face almost to the ground, cry out that the Lord is faithful, and start your prayer time with this: Lord, if I still don’t get the urgency of a life spent every day with you, I ask now that you would impress it upon me. I want to be in awe of you, every day, in awe of your presence. Let your spirit flood like rain and refresh my soul today, I want to praise you every day for the rest of my days.
“Then Moses said, ‘I pray You, show me Your glory!’” (Exodus 33:18 NASB)
