It was one of my memories from my last trip here, but it really hit home today. As a group, they really honor me. Their respect is something extraordinary. Let me give you one simple picture that is actually worth a thousand words. Admittedly, it’s not a great picture, but you’ll get the point.

While a couple hundred have already gathered here for the training, our table was the only table with two girls assigned to keep the flies off of our food. At one meal they stood there the whole time we ate and watched our dessert to make sure we, not the flies, got to eat it. They bring our food, protect it and then joyfully clean up after us.

With each meal they serve me extra things. Not everyone is getting rice pudding and bananas! I feel a little awkward, but I’m told that they want to honor me and thank me for coming to be with them all this week.

They were very uncomfortable getting their picture taken. Like many of the Cambodian people, they are humble and aren’t interested in people making a big deal about them or what they do. They just want Jesus to get any and all credit!

Wow.
