Read Luke 14:12-14. Here’s what’s happening right before Jesus tells the story we are studying. This helps us see why Jesus told this story. What does it say about the context of Jesus’ story?
Read Luke 14:15-17. How do the early verses of Jesus’ story help us understand our role as His servants? What makes an invitation personal and effective? How could you do a better job of inviting others to meet Jesus?
Read Luke 14:18-20. What are some of the most common excuses people give today for not coming to church with you? What are some of our possible answers…without being pushy or obnoxious?
Read Luke 14:21-24. Part of Jesus’ context is the reality of the reluctance of the Jews to embrace Him as the Messiah. God will now go on to reach out to the Gentiles. How else can this effectively encourage and challenge us today?
