This Thanksgiving week we’ll be pointing to an amazing reason to be thankful…God’s grace! With your LifeGroup you’ll be studying one of Jesus’ most powerful and well-known stories.

Stepping In: Getting things started!

1-What did you learn from Pastor Mikel’s message that you hadn’t really thought of before?

2-Share a way someone extended grace to you at some point in your life.

Building Up: What is God Saying?

Read Luke 15:11-16. What are the key elements of Jesus’ story as we’re introduced to the characters and plot?

Read Luke 15:17-19. Have you ever had a “come to your senses” moment? What happened? How did God get your attention?

Read Luke 15:20-24. In all three of Jesus’ stories in Luke 15 something was lost, then found. In each case there’s a huge celebration and party. What do you learn from this?

Read Luke 15:25-30. Jesus tells this story to confront the religious Jewish leaders. They are the “older brother” in Jesus’ story. However, how are we at times the older brother today?

Read Luke 15:31-32. At the conclusion of this story, step back and look at the big picture. What is so amazing about God’s grace?

Living Out: How do I obey?

1-Finish one of the following thoughts:

I could be more like the “father” in this story by…

To be less like the “older brother” I need to…

I feel like the “younger son” and so I really need to…

2-Who’s a “prodigal” that you could invite back to the Father?
