They couldn’t really understand. They couldn’t come close to comprehending the weight He was carrying as that moment approached. When Jesus told His disciples about His approaching death and resurrection, it wasn’t so much that they would understand now…but later, it would all make sense.

It was no secret. Jesus’ mission was clear. He was going to “give His life as a ransom for many.” We learned in Matthew 1 that He would save His people from their sins. It was most definitely coming, and His followers needed to know it was always the plan when it happened.

 

Living Out: APPLY IT

 

Application questions (Is there a… 1. Sin to CONFESS 2. Promise to CLAIM 3. Attitude to CHANGE 4. Command to OBEY 5. Example to FOLLOW (or not) 6. Prayer to PRAY 7. Error to AVOID 8. Truth to BELIEVE 9. Something to PRAISE GOD FOR). 

 

You probably wouldn’t have picked these two verses to focus on today. For some reason they jumped off the page at me. Strangely, my application today was “something to praise God for.” 

 

Dear Father, today you made it clear to me again that you have this bigger plan that is working. Whether I see it at the time or not, You do. Whether I understand all the ramifications or not, You do. I just want to praise You for Your majesty and power. You, and You alone, are able to carry out Your plan throughout human history. Even with the freedom of choice You give us, You will not miss bringing about anything You want to happen. Wow. Today I feel pretty good knowing YOU are in total control.
