The Big Serve is changing…ME

This weekend at Community you’ll get a listing of several of the projects we’ll ALL be doing on March 30th. The Big Serve, in our seventh year, continues to change me…not just the stuff around me.

While talking to a friend yesterday, I was reminded of some of the internal benefits of The Big Serve. Obviously, parks and schools are cleaned. Homes and buildings are repaired. Weeds are pulled, fences and walls painted and trash is picked up. Those are all great and they show our valley we love them.

There are also some pretty amazing internal benefits for me as an individual and for those of us who call Community home.

The Big Serve…

…Reminds me that the church isn’t here to serve me.

…Encourages me to get out of my comfy chair and into the mess.

…Opens my eyes to the needs that are around me EVERY day of the year.

…Pushes me out of my comfort zone of pointing fingers and forces me into the realm of being part of the solution.

…Molds me into the kind of person I would want as a neighbor.

…Helps me follow my leader when He set the primary example and said that He didn’t come to be served, but to serve.

When you arrive this weekend at Community, you’ll have a list on your chair. Be ready to dive in. It’s not just good for our Valley, it’s good for us!
