By the way, next week at this time I’ll be finishing up my climb up Mt Whitney. A dozen of us are taking on the challenge of climbing the highest elevated peak in the continental United States at 14,497 feet.

When I’m back, I’m sure I’ll have some stories. Today, however, I just want to share with you something I’ve learned through the preparation. And here it is:

PREPARATION is essential.

I haven’t even tried to climb the big mountain yet, but I know the preparation and training have made a difference. Last Friday we did our last training run, which was a 15 mile hike up to San Jacinto Peak and back. I did really well.

However, two months ago, I’m not sure how I would have done. The training has been critical for me and has really made a difference.

It’s not a big leap here to point out how critical our spiritual preparation is for the challenges ahead of us. Develop your relationship with God everyday. Then, when the challenge comes, you already know how to talk to Him.

Jesus said that when we do what He says, we’re like a man who builds his house on a rock (Matthew 7). The storms WILL come, but you’ll be prepared!
