This really is for YOU
Sometimes when you read through Old Testament passages you’re curious if the promise applies to you or was it just something for someone else at a certain point in time. This is a good concern to have, because we don’t want to just grab a promise for someone else and think it’s for us.
In my daily reading I came across this yesterday in Jeremiah. It’s a great promise as God looks forward to the ultimate work of the Messiah. Yes, He is giving Israel hope in their difficult season, but it’s also for us…because He says so later in the book of Hebrews chapter eight.
Read it…and be encouraged, because this is for you too!
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:33-34 NIV)
