What if you tried this?

What if you tried this?

Inviting people to an Easter service can be intimidating. If you knew for sure they’d say YES…it wouldn’t be. But the unknown reaction can be the unnerving part. So, let me give you some suggestions.

1-Start from a place of friendship, not fear. No, you don’t know how they’ll react, but one thing you do know is that you care about them. Make sure they know that’s the reason for the special invitation.

2-Continue the love, no matter what. Don’t make your friendship hinge on their YES response. No matter what, continue your friendship. If they say, no thanks, let them know you still want to hang out or go for a ride or watch a game… or do whatever it is you do together.

3-Remember the Holy Spirit. Seriously. He is the one who is working on them and cares about them way more than we ever could. Trust Him. He is the one that will save them. Your job is to build a bridge. If you get a NO this time, keep loving and keep building that bridge.

4-When you get a YES…Meet them! When your friend says, “Yes…I’ll give it a try,” agree to pick them up or at least meet them at a specific location on campus so they don’t have to find their way around on their first visit to Community.

God is working through you to introduce your friends to Jesus. What a privilege!!!

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.” (2 Corinthians 5:18 NIV)
