What if you tried this?
This Sunday we’re adding our NEW SERVICE! Our new times on Sunday are 8, 9:30 & 11am. We still have Thursday night service at 6:30 (with dinner starting at 5:30).
I want to encourage you to keep reading through the book of Hebrews as we go through it as a church in our weekend services. This weekend we’re in chapter 2.
One helpful thing you can do, especially if you use the Bible app, is to read each chapter a number of times from different translations. Here are my go to translations: ESV, NIV, NLT, MSG. There are others I like, but those are my most frequented options.
The beauty of reading from different translations is we can get multiple perspectives on difficult to understand sections. We also have an opportunity to see familiar passages in a new light.
For example, here is the last verse from chapter two in each of these translations:
“For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18 ESV)
“Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18 NIV)
“Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.” (Hebrews 2:18 NLT)
“Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.” (Hebrews 2:18 MSG)
