Who (or what) do you serve?

Who (or what) do you serve?

We began our series about money this past weekend at Community. Each November we spend a few weeks going back to what God says about the money we get to manage. After all, everything belongs to Him, and He has a lot to say about money.

Jesus says we can’t serve both God and money. So, here’s a few things to think about.

  • Money makes promises it can’t keep. God keeps His promises.
  • Money can be taken away in an instant. God never leaves us or forsakes us.
  • Money can be used for good or bad. God is always working in us for our good.

Here are a couple verses which contain the words of Jesus about the true heart of the issue. Read through them a couple times and commit yourself to being a person who’s heart is fully God’s.

“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. … No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.” (Matthew 6:21, 24 NLT)
