Nothing helps get your bearings in a massive mall more than a map with a very nice red dot that says, “you are here.” At Community, we are all over the map as far as “here” is concerned.

The beauty of it all is this: we all can start right where we are. That’s how God set it up. Right now, right where you are, knowing what you know and even what you don’t, you are exactly where you need to be for God to get started with you.

In fact, He specifically invites us to come to Him right now, no matter what:

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30 The Message)

I love the way Philip Clarke Brewer puts it in his poem:

God uses

what you have

to fill a need which

you never could have filled.

God uses

where you are

to take you where

you never could have gone.

God uses

what you can do

to accomplish what

you never could have done.

God uses

who you are

to let you become who

you never could have been.

Prayer thought:

“Lord, use me here, where I am! Despite my fear, I lay my life in your hands. What I have, where I am, what I can do, and who I am, I give to you. Show me how to put my faith into action. I don’t want to just “say” I want to DO!!”
