You got a Bible…now what?

You got a Bible…now what?

This weekend we talked about how we can trust and follow God’s Word. In order to do that, we need to…are you ready?…READ IT!

Reading the Bible can be absolutely overwhelming. It’s really not ONE book, but rather 66 books. 39 books make up the Old Testament and 27 books are in the New Testament.  While there is value in starting at the very beginning, it’s not what I recommend if you’ve never read much of the Bible.

Here’s our plan this week. I want you to spend time with Jesus. So, just start reading a chapter a day from the book of Luke. (There are four books about Jesus’ life, and this is one of them. They’re called the Gospels.)

Each day as you read another chapter, consider doing this:

1-Pray first. Ask God to meet with you. Ask Him to help show you things in His Word. Tell Jesus you want to get to know Him better. Now, hang out with Him!

2-Share your questions with trusted friends. Don’t just google it…you never know what someone is trying to convince you of. Nope, go to a friend.

3-Share you insights with EVERYONE! You find GOOD NEWS, pass it on!

Ok, that will get us started. Have fun.

Here’s my favorite verse from Luke 1. Make it your prayer and commitment:

“‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’ Then the angel left her.” (Luke 1:38 NIV)
