You want a pure heart?

You want a pure heart?

I’ve known a few people in my life who have truly exemplified a pure heart. Jesus said the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8). Unfortunately it is a rare thing.

When we continually turn our hearts, minds and souls over to the control of the Holy Spirit, He is able to purify us. It’s a process, a journey. One I continue to work at, even though it’s “quite the process” for me.

Paul encourages Titus, who’s pastoring the churches on the island of Crete, to help these churches reach their full potential. Apparently there are some pretty rough characters there, so Paul challenges Titus to help people see the value of pursuing a pure heart.

Read these verses and then ask God to help you have the kind of a heart that honors and responds to Him.

“Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.” (Titus 1:15-16 NLT)
