Do you need a good example?

Do you need a good example?

When it comes to baptism, we have plenty examples to explore. Today I want to take you to our primary example for life…Jesus.

For Jesus’ baptism, Matthew records a conversation between Jesus and John the Baptist. John doesn’t feel worthy to baptize Jesus, and yet Jesus just says it needs to happen “to fulfill all righteousness.” John responds and does what Jesus wanted done.

“Righteousness” mean being “right with God.” So, with Jesus’ example, now you know a beautiful ceremony…approved and done by Jesus…so we can express to the world we know being right with God comes through Jesus. Our baptism helps us picture what He did for us to make our salvation even possible.

If you’ve already been baptized, please be praying for those who are considering it. If you haven’t, and you’re ready to make Jesus your Lord…this is your next step!!

“Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, ‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?’

Jesus replied, ‘Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.’ Then John consented.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’” (Matthew 3:13-17 NIV)
